As Shimmy V0.01 gets ever-closer to public release, and we continue refining through end to end testing. We decided it was time for a brand refresh. Whilst there have been iterations in the past, we felt as though there was still room for growth in terms of achieving more minimal, expressive and symbolic icon branding...

The ‘i’, whilst being the central and only vowel in our brand name, has always symbolised our end user, and our end user ‘Shimmying’ at that. It represents our end-user safe from harmful exposure, free to create and engage with valuable and purpose-driven social content relative to their interests, passions and real networks. Free to get moving and make more happen with their social output! 

A Shimmy is an expressive, purposeful, energetic movement. This is the space that our product delivers - In the context of our platform, ‘a Shimmy’ is an admin controlled, context driven social feed. The user decides if they are public or private, who is invited to join, whether they have to pay, auto-join or request to join, what the subject matter is, and further specifications that bring them, as innovative social feeds, into the realm of each individual users' interests and networks. 

In creating a Shimmy, the user has control over the specification of new, exciting spaces to channel their own movements and initiatives with topical content creation and delivery throughout their real networks. 

It’s time the end user is liberated via social media, where they are not processed down the same harmful rabbit holes as everyone else. Where their data is safe, where their content has relative value and impact, where the norms of activity become norms of substance and meaning.
